The governor of Banadir and mayor of Mogadishu, Abdirahman Omar Osman on Friday met with UK ambassador to Somalia, David Concar to discuss the city’s development priorities.
Osman took over the office last month from his predecessor, Thabit Abdi Mohamed who was sacked by President, Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo.
The mayor expressed interest in working more closely with the UK on important economic development initiatives in the city.
“I had a great meeting today (Friday) with UK to Somalia @DConcar and discussed our new plans to develop the capital city of #Mogadishu” Osman said in a Twitter post.
For his part, the ambassador welcomed the new mayor and pledged to work with him closely.
” Great meeting with @engyarisow, new mayor of Mogadishu & BRA governor. Discussed the city’s challenges, his priorities & how UK can help,” Concar wrote on his Twitter account.
Osman who was the country’sInformation minister at the time of his appointment officially took over the reins this week.
He pledged that would come up with strategies to improve the security of the city which last year witnessed the deadliest attack in the history of the nation.
