Danab troops carry out an operation in Lower Shabelle region

Danab Special Forces have launched an operation against Al-Shabaab in Awdheegle district in the Lower Shabelle region on Friday.

The US-trained elite troops conducted special operations in Tawakal, Dar es Salaam and Shaam Garre areas under Awdheegle.

Officials leading the operation said they had destroyed al-Shabaab bases there.

In the past, the Somali National Army and AMISOM have stepped up operations in the Lower Shabelle region.
