Government spokesman and veteran journalist Mohamed Moalimuu elected MP

Somali Government spokesperson Mohamed Moalimuu was today elected MP in Hir-Shabelle.

Moalimuu garnered 96 votes while his only opponent Mohaked Abdiaziz withdrew from the race.

Prime Minister Mohamed Roble hailed Moalimuu’s election noting the former journalist had ‘worn many hats’ in service to the nation.

Others elected today in Beletweyne including Khalif Abdi Omar who beat Omar Gurey with 96 votes and Osman Mohamed Daalo whose opponent, Fadumo Mohamed Abdulle pulled out of the race.


Outspoken MP Mohamed Benebene retained his seat after his rival Adam Qasim Mohamed withdrew.

Others were Mohamed Abdullahi ‘Abukaate’ and Abdulkarim Abdow Heidar both whom their opponents widreq from the race.
