Unidentified gunmen, thought to be Al Shabaab assassins have shot and killed a Somali district official in Mogadishu on Saturday.
Witnesses confirmed to Radio Shabelle that two men armed with pistols gunned down the Hamar-jajab district official in Waberi district early in the morning.
The slain official has been identified only as Nurani.
The assailants managed to escape the scene before the arrival of the local security forces, who launched a manhunt, but no arrest had been made for the killing.
No group has claimed responsibility for the assassination, which was the latest in series of attacks in the seaside capital over the past few months.
