HirShabelle president Mohamed Ware has dismissed reports that he is sick after one of his ministers died of COVID-19 noting he is fine but on self-quarantine.

A tweet from the President’s office noted the HirShabelle leader was not sick contrary to reports circulating in social media and news website that he was ailing after contracting COVID-19.

“The reports that I am sick are false. I am fine but on self-quarantine as a precaution,” Ware said.
HirShabelle ministry of health added the president was on self-quarantine for one week ‘after he took advice from health experts.’

Ware’s Justice Minister Khalif Mumin succumbed to COVID-19 Saturday in Mogadishu. The Minister had been transferred to De-Martini hospital in Mogadishu after ailing in Jowhar town.

Two people have since died from the disease and two others recovered as the number of cases rise to 25.
