‎Mudug Deputy Police Commissioner wounded in Galkayo ‎clashes

The Deputy Police Chief of Mudug region and other security officers Heavy clashes broke out in northern Galkayo on Thursday night.

The clashes erupted after troops led by Mudug regional police commander Mumin Abdi Shire attacked a gathering of elders and politicians critical of the Puntland president.

There are unconfirmed reports that the former mayor of Galka’ayo was hosting meetings against Deni on his farm in Galka’ayo. ‎

Somali foreign minister, Abdi Said Musa, was reportedly at the scene. The Mudug regional administration has previously accused Musa of going to Galkayo for political reasons.

‎No further details are yet available on the official casualties caused by the confrontation.‎
