Over 300 Somali nationals who were trapped in Ukraine have been safely evacuated, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has said.
The Ministry said 348 Somalis who were stranded in Ukraine and along its borders including some due to lack of documentation have now been gained safe passage.
A further 65 Somalis students who were studying in Ukraine have secured places in universities in Hungary, the Ministry said adding those who have not been placed and are interested can register with the ministry.
The development comes amid an escalation of fighting as Russia says it was changing its focus on the capital Kyiv.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky has said he is ready for talks to end the war but will not give up his country’s territories.
