Somali sets up committee to resolve recent violence in Mogadishu

Somali Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Role appointed a committee to resolve the recent crisis in Mogadishu.

Somali Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Role appointed a committee to resolve the recent crisis in Mogadishu.

A statement from Prime Minister Roble’s office said the move came after President Farmajo declared before the lower house on May 1 that he had handed over the leadership of the country’s elections and its security to the prime minister.

The commission consisted of 11 members and included ministers of internal security, interior, and defence. The committee also has members of parliament.

The 11-member committee has been selected from the government and the opposition and will advise and resolve the crisis in Mogadishu.

A statement from the prime minister’s office also said the commission would work to resolve the root causes of the April 25 riots in Mogadishu.

The commission will also focus on repatriating military forces from Mogadishu to their bases in the Middle and Lower Shabelle regions.
