Somaliland Minister of Investment Mohamed Ahmed Awad has tested positive for COVID-19 becoming the senior most official in the break-away region to contract the disease.
Awad announced in a twitter post he had tested positive for the disease but added he was in good condition.
“I did a COVID-19 test and the results turned out positive,” said Awad. “My condition is good and I am in no pain.”
The announcement comes barely a week after Puntland Minister of Agriculture Ismail Diriye Gama’diid succumbed to COVID-19 in Mogadishu.
Somaliland announced 26 more COVID-19 cases Tuesday bringing to 358 the total cases in the region.
The viral disease has since killed 22 people in Somaliland.
